THE DEATH BED : A SHORT STORY

This short-story is one of my earlier works.
Original picture drawn  by Vidushi Pandey.
The IMAGE and the STORY, both are original works.
Parenthesis is used to put emphasis on narration parts of the story.
Photoshop used on  the picture to add rain , black background   and text.

THE DEATH BED

Artist - Vidushi Pandey
Photoshopped by - Shreyansh Chouradia (Springy)
He loved me and he loved me a lot. He used to say I was his angel.
(With a tear in her eye Margaret told her husband Josh.)

He cared for me more than anyone has ever done. He always used to ask me, “Come on Maggi, tell me, who was your first love”, and I always ignored that question purposely. I liked the hint of fire in his eyes. A fire of possessiveness; a fire of envy that someone else will share my love for him someday.

(Josh seemed restless. Margaret’s eyes were now drenched with tears for her lost love. Her long eyelashes, though soaked completely in tears, looked beautiful. Josh consoled her. He petted her shoulder and she wept for long in his arms. After composing herself back, she continued) :

He was in his death bed. His eyes were dark and skin had turned pale. He was counting last of his breaths.

(A drop of tear fell on Josh’s face, who was now lying on Margaret’s lap. Margaret continued, now sobbing) :

His last words asked me a question, “Maggi, who was your first love?”
All those moments spent with him rolled on before my eyes. The way we hugged, the way we cared for each other, the way he used to hold my hands. He was there whenever I needed him…

(She wept harder, but continued.)

We have laughed and cried together, celebrated and mourned together. And now…now he was leaving me.

“Who was your first love?” he me asked again.
I smiled held his hand and kissed it. I replied, and these were the words he was waiting for before leaving me forever.

“You were my first love, dad. You have always been my first love.”

First try at light painting ... I tried making the symbol "OM" using LED lights ...
Finally I settled with this...the closest I could get

My frustration when I could not get things right.

Note- One thing I've learnt while using cellphone as camera - NEVER EVER USE ZOOM unless its very much necessary [or if your cam has an optical zoom]... Otherwise the result would lead to a pixelated picture as this one. Nonetheless, pixels can't win over cuteness :)

A POINT BLANK SHOT

After sitting still in my garden for half an hour with my cellphone and discarding more than 10 photos, finally this butterfly actually let me 'shoot' this picture from a

NO STRINGS ATTACHED

Two hands, ten fingers
On these metal strings;

The night before that dismal dawn
When you just ‘moved on’.
My heart bled that whole night,
Sucked in a vacuum without light.

A chord snapped between your heart and mine
My heart ached like a wound in brine.
“I am there with you, Dear”, you said, “Do not fret.”
Then why did you leave me here, with eyes all wet.
Like a bend in a river, you changed your way
You cared for my heart, then you did slay.

As the chords snapped,
The bridge fell down;
Leaving my heart wretched and patched
You left me here with no strings attached.

Two hands, ten fingers
On these metal strings…

NAKED TREES

Long gone are the days
When there were leaves on these branches.
Now its dust and dirt;
Clouds no more, no more the blue skies.
What I could see from here, my friend,
Is a forest of bricks and mortar.

Let me fly, fly away
From here to a better place,
Where nothing but peace prevails.
No more dust, no more dirt;
With no one to bother, no one to tease.
Where twigs are clad with soft green leaves,
Where there aren't these naked trees.

The poem and the pictures are original by me.
For Photographs : Samsung Wave(cellphone camera) and long, patient hours. [NO PHOTOSHOP USED]

"The Photographer & The Viewer"

I started this note with a segment of quote from Ansel Adams who said :

"There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.”

I took all these pictures with my cellphone - "samsung wave"... So enjoy these pictures (my first with photography). Your suggestions and comments are welcome. Please do follow this blog and encourage my passion.

"Tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes! "
- William Wordswoth

"The butterfly is a flying flower,
The flower is a tethered butterfly."
-Ponce Denis Ecouchard Leburn
"Art is the unceasing effort to compete with the beauty of the flowers- and  never succeeding."
- Gian Carlo Monetti

"Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made and forgot to put a soul into"
- Henry Ward Beecher

"Earth Laughs Through Flowers"
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"For flowers are peculiarly the poetry of Christ."

- Christopher Smart

"I will be the gladest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one."
-Edna St. Vincent Millay

"Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower."
-Albert Camus

So these are some of my first few photographs which I took while roaming around in my garden. All these photographs are from my lovely cellphone "Samsung Wave".

INCEPTION

This is my first post for my first blog. It is an inception of a new world for me and I think I'd love this world as it is close to my heart. Close to my heart because it is related to 'art'.
In words of Oscar Wilde:

“A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.”

This blog deals with my amateur photography, my poems and short stories. I shall also post other works of art by my friends. All the posts here are my original works and where they are from someone else, they shall be duly credited.

Please appreciate the effort and if you use any of these work credit it with the name. As Henry Kissinger said:
“Art is man’s expression of his joy in labour”
Let the joy continue to harbour in the heart of an artist by crediting his work and appreciating it.

Thank you for reading ...Your suggestions and feedback is my compass. Please do comment and give feedback.

:) Shreyansh :)
